SCOTTS VALLEY — VirnetX Holding Corp., a small Internet security software and technology startup, has returned to the patent courts again, this time alleging that Siemens Corp. and Mitel Networks Corp. have violated two patents.
The suit was filed against Siemens AG, Siemens Corp., Siemens Communications Inc., Siemens Enterprise Communications Inc., Mitel Networks Corp. and Mitel Networks. It was filed In the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division, where the company won a $200 million settlement with Microsoft Corp. last year over similar issues and where another significant patent infringement suit is pending against Apple, NEC, Aastra and Cisco.
In this latest suit, VirnetX seeks both damages and injunctive relief.
In other recent company business, the VirnetX Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors voted last month to pay cash bonuses to top executives.
Kendall Larsen, chief executive officer, president and director, received $153,519 above his salary and William E. Sliney, chief financial officer, received $19,624 in a cash bonus.
