SOQUEL, CA—(March 25, 2010)—Social justice, equality and the transformational power of music will soon take center stage during a two-night event this spring featuring more than 100 musical, spoken word and dance artists at the 2010 Inner Light Ministries Musical Celebration.

Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1 @ 7:30 p.m.

The weekend event begins with Awaken! – Conscious Artists for Justice, an inspiring program featuring actor/songwriter/recording artist Charles Holt; jazz pianist Tammy Hall; actor/singer/choral director Lori Rivera; singer/songwriter/choral director Valerie Joi; and spoken word artists Rev. Deborah Johnson, Lex; and others.

On Saturday evening, The Choice is Now! features the 70-person Inner Light Choir, which has performed nationally and the Bay area-based Dominion A Cappella Ensemble, joined by Charles Holt and many of the artists mentioned above.

“We are living in a time when we are witnessing so much political divisiveness, social unrest, racial and ethnic tension, economic fear, and anger in our country,” said Valerie Joi Fiddmont, ILM Minister of Music and Arts. “At the same time, people are experiencing record-setting natural disasters around the world. Yet, we are also living in a time of great awakening. During this time, we who believe in Oneness must awaken and make the choice to stand and let our voices be heard, to propel our humanity and our beloved planet into our greater yet to be.”

Advance ticket purchases are recommended as this event has sold out in previous years. This year, a portion of the proceeds will support Embracing the World, a not-for-profit international collective of charities founded by the spiritual and humanitarian leader known as “Amma,” (Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi). The organization exists to help alleviate the burden of the world’s poor by providing food, shelter, education, healthcare and livelihood to those in need. (www.embracingtheworld.org)
