Emeritus Students Launch Favorite Book Reading and Barter

College of Marin

KENTFIELD, Calif.— February 16, 2010 —Book lovers whose lives have been changed by a single passage, an adventurous character or a beloved author who swept them away have a new venue to share their treasured find thanks to Emeritus Students College of Marin who have launched a monthly gathering for just that event.

Beginning March 5, ESCOM members will be hosting a lunch time Book Barter where everyone is welcome to read from a favorite book and talk about it for a few minutes. People will have the chance to swap books if they choose or just share ideas.

“We are sharing our love of literature,” said Karen Hammeter, ESCOM co-president. For her, it will be Travels With Herodotus By Polish journalist Ryszard Kapuscinski whose journey through Northern Africa is portrayed through the eyes of the fifth-century-B.C. Greek ‘Father of History.’ (MORE)
