Santa Cruz woman cares for three ‘adopted’ battalions

SANTA CRUZ–SANTA CRUZ — Somewhere in northwest Iraq and in Qatar, U.S. troops are opening up individually wrapped care packages of gingerbread cookies thanks to Kathleen Hallam, a Santa Cruz resident who has spent thousands of dollars on postage to send postcards and small items to more than 58 men and women in three “adopted” battalions.
